Town Discusses Osage Station Park
More than 50 people attended a meeting Wednesday night at which residents had a chance to map out their ideal park.

The future of was discussed at a community workshop attended by more than 50 residents Wednesday night. The group including several kids and their parents, who are concerned about sports fields at the park.
The town is in the process of completing the master plan update for the park, which would map out its future for the next 30 years.
The community workshop gave residents a chance to learn more about issues the town hopes to address in the new plan. Residents used maps to create their ideal park, presenting those ideas at the end of the meeting.

The town has hired Verde Design landscape architecture to help with the planning process, which included an .
The next stage is for the design firm to take the information from the survey and the residents' input and create conceptual drawings that incorporate those ideas. There will be another community meeting early next year.

Residents' suggestions for Osage Station Park were sometimes opposed:
- Sports: Requests for a sand volleyball court, a field for Danville Little League, a skate park, T-ball field for younger kids and an additional snack shack.
- Parking: Better parking management, including making walking paths from the lots more pedestrian friendly and adding speed bumps to parking lots.
- Other amenities: Better signage at the park, plaques explaining its history.
- Park Personality: Keep the community feel of the park or make it more of a sports venue.
