Turner Stanton Joins Race For Town Council

AUG. 5, 2020, DANVILLE, CALIF. – “I consider Turner Stanton the best thing for Danville,” said Mike Doyle, five-time mayor of Danville and over 25-year veteran of the town’s council. In his last 2012 run, Doyle finished in a commanding first place. A beloved entity on the council and around Danville, Doyle resigned in 2016 when his wife experienced health issues. He has now resurfaced to throw his full support around his protégé, Turner Stanton. His wife Joe Anne Doyle said, “We have been waiting for Stanton to run since he was in high school all those years ago, he has a passion for Danville.”

Raised in Danville, Turner Stanton has been an active member of the community. Stanton was moved by recent events and their impact on Danville businesses and the community and sees the need for visible and proactive leadership. “I’m committed to providing public service, not politics.” Stanton added, “I've had the utmost respect for Mike, Joe Anne, and the Doyle family. I'm honored to have their confidence.”
Stanton is running for Danville Town Council in this November’s election, seeking to fill one of three newly open seats. In addition to former Danville Mayor Mike Doyle, Stanton steps into the race with the endorsement of San Ramon Mayor Abram Wilson and current and four-time Danville Mayor Karen Stepper.

Stanton seeks to be part of a new proactive leadership that builds operational resilience against today’s challenges and prioritizes safety in his platform. He promises to work alongside residents and businesses to ensure that the historic Town of Danville, unique in history and charm, thrives for generations to come.
Few words, more action
In the midst of the pandemic, Stanton recognized that if Danville businesses were to survive, prompt action was needed. He announced the launch of a Re-Opening Taskforce in April 2020, at the Town Council meeting that was “future-focused, while grounded in safety.” The effort quickly evolved into the Recover Danville Alliance. Serving as co-chair, Stanton helped draft re-opening plans, acquire the necessary PPE and promote businesses in collaboration with the County, Town Council, Chamber of Commerce, Town of Danville, over 50 local businesses, 20 students, artists, and citizens. “It has become apparent that as we navigate unprecedented challenges from threats like COVID,” said Stanton, “business as usual simply won’t cut it.”
Stanton’s passion for Danville and professional experience has drawn support from Danville leaders, residents of all backgrounds and ages, and countless businesses. Stanton’s running platform, (complete version available at Stantonfordanville.com) focuses on: 1. Safety – Keeping Danville safe 2. Community – Serving as the citizenry’s conduit to town hall for ALL residents 3. Economic vibrance – Supporting a vibrant downtown and local scene.
Stanton’s decision to run is rooted in his family’s love of Danville. His parents moved to Danville to find a safe and vibrant community to raise their young family. Stanton and his brothers--one a U.S. Army Veteran who served in Afghanistan and another, a senior communications and marketing manager for a national educational non-profit were raised to appreciate the value of service to the community.
Stanton’s experience includes serving on the Parks & Leisure Services Commission (three years), Hot Summer Nights Car Show (nine years), Town of Danville Economic Development Department, and Chair of the Site Council. Stanton is a recipient of the Michael K. Shimansky Community Service Award.
He holds a B.S. in Business Administration, minor in Political Science from U.C. Riverside (Summa Cum Laude). Stanton worked directly with the City of Ontario’s International Airport Authority CEO to help the City of Ontario gain local control from Los Angeles World Airports. He was a part of the Office of Governmental and Community Affairs office at UC Riverside and was selected to be a part of the inaugural Ronald O. Loveridge Fellowship where he worked for the California Office of the Lieutenant Governor. Stanton also served as the Chief Ambassador for the School of Business and was a two-term president for the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA).
Stanton works for a top international professional services firm. He spent two fully busy seasons in the audit & assurance practice and is now a global consultant. Stanton seeks to apply his financial acumen and customer engagement experience to the Town Council by ensuring fiscal responsibility and increased engagement between the town and its businesses and residents.
