Arrest Made In Monday Hit-And-Run Of Child
A 19-year-old man is the suspect in the Fairfield incident.
A 19-year-old Fairfield man was arrested this morning in connection with a hit-and-run incident that left a child seriously injured, police said.
The 5-year-old child was struck Monday afternoon on the 400 block of San Marco Street in Fairfield, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
Today at at 8:54 a.m., Fairfield officers arrested Jefferson Tara on charges of hit-and-run with injury after finding the suspect’s vehicle parked in an alley, police said.

Detectives previously reviewed videos of the collision area and had established a possible suspect vehicle and the general area where that vehicle was, police said.
Officers Troy Oliver and Reina Maravilla conducted an area search and found the car in the alley of the 700 block of Delaware Street. Fairfield investigators spoke with Tara and made the arrest.

The child struck in the collision remains in stable condition. There was no additional information available at this time.
