An Introduction & Some Soft, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
Into to The Big Green Bowl baking blog. Recipes, baking tips, family stuff and more...

Hi everyone. My name is Michael Ann Riley.
I'm a mom and a preschool teacher here in Davis. (See for more details!) I keep busy doing the work thing and the mom thing, but I always find time to do one of my favorite things, and that is BAKE. I love to share what I've baked with friends, and I've earned a little reputation for my yummy baked goods. People are always asking me for my recipes, so I decided it would be fun to create a blog for that very purpose.
My recipes are not original, they are just recipes I've been baking since I was a kid. Tried and true recipes that will never fail you. Nothing terribly fancy, but always delicious.
I will also share baking tips, suggestions for organizing your recipes, and anything else that comes up, baking or otherwise!
If you are needing to bring a dozen cookies or muffins to your kids' school or to church or a sporting event, you will find a recipe here that is sure to please! I know makes awesome baked goods, but nothing says "I love you" or "I care" more than something home made. You can still go to Nugget to buy your ingredients and buy yourself a cup of coffee while you're there. :-)
Here's a wonderful recipe to get you started. Everyone loves chocolate chip cookies, and these ones truly are THE BEST. I got this recipe back in the early 90's, from a recipe email list-serve. The recipe was actually called "THE BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies" so naturally I had to try it.
I had never been totally satisfied with the Toll House recipe. Not chewy enough! I like my cookies soft and chewy. Well, I tried this one and have never looked at another chocolate chip cookie recipe since! Why mess with the rest when you have the best?
Now that I've stirred your appetite for some sweets, you can click here to see the full recipe on my blog, The Big Green Bowl.
Happy Baking!
Michael Ann
