Blog: 5 Things You Should Do this Week

An easy list of chores to get out of the way at the beginning of the month.

I really truly am a professional bossy girl – it’s part of the skill set that keeps me employed at the . With that in mind, here’s a checklist of things to do this week:

Register to vote. Everything you need can be found here. The deadline is May 12 for the June election. While it’s possibly true that your vote in the presidential primary won’t make that much difference, there will be a Davis City Council election at the same time. City Council elections are often settled by fewer than 100 votes. (How many Facebook friends do you have? You could be a Decider!)

File your California Taxes. Especially if you’re expecting a refund. Because the Guv is talking about delaying tax returns owing to a slight financial embarrassment.

Clean your dishwasher. Yes, you do have to clean something that is designed to clean other things. Because if the spaghetti isn’t on your plates anymore, where exactly do you think it went? Follow manufacturer’s instructions, or read the article.

Find out if you need a tetanus booster. You need one every ten years. Getting one next time you’re at the doctor, or on a drop-in basis, can save you a pricey emergency room visit. Bonus: Tetanus comes as part of a package, so you’ll also have immunity to diphtheria (unlikely) and whooping cough (a regular Davis outbreak).

Eat Turnips. Bet you don’t! But they’re local, cheap and easy. Try this recipe from the Davis Food Co-op Facebook page (and friend us while you’re there!)
