Creating a goal or dream list helps you prioritize your life and keep focused.

"Take a piece of paper and write down more than 100 goals in under 20 minutes, email or give it to a life or personal coach, come back in a year and watch your life change forever."

That was the final advice giving by Jan Payne, a success coach and one of the guest speakers on Day One of the "Ten Days of Happiness."  

That was just one of many nuggets that listeners left with at the end of the call. I totally agree with that, since I was fortunate to learn that lesson at the age of nine. It took me more than twenty minutes to do my list. But as Jan shared, if you do it quickly, you will not have time to be critical or analytical. You will not have time to cancell out great dreams or decide what you can or cannot accomplish. You just let it flow.

Goals and dreams are a major source of happiness. With goals and dreams you have hope, things to look forward to that can put you in a happy mood. You don't get lost in the future or the size of the goal. You break it down to daily doable pieces. That is where transformation takes place and where your future is defined.   One day at a time is not too difficult.

With that in mind, Greg Peterson, another one of the speakers, building on Jan's advice, suggests you take one of those goals and make progress toward one of them in the next 24 hours. Take action, no matter how small. After a series of actions, before you know it, you will have accomplished your goal. 

Greg encouraged us not to take the trip alone. He explained the 10 benefits of working with a personal or life coach. A coach not only can hold you accountable or encourage you, but they have a wealth of information and experience that can save you a lot of headache and possibly prevent you from giving up on your dreams. Weather your goals include weight loss or getting out of debt, having a coach can cut down on your learning curve.
