Quintessentially Davis: The Hotdogger

For the best hot dogs in Davis, visit The Hotdogger.

I had some trouble writing this post about .

It should simple, right? What could be more iconic of Davis then this little hotdog stand in the middle of downtown?

It starts with my personal relationship with the hotdog. There's something about the rising temperatures of summer; as soon as July hits I go hotdog crazy.

Maybe its the 4th of July, and the childhood tradition of hotdogs and root beer floats to celebrate America? When I moved to Davis and discovered The Hotdogger, it instantly became one of my favorite dinning locations.

My little brother, Anthony, sat next to me as I struggled with this blog post. He is a Junior at UCD, and a frequent customer of The Hotdogger. He suggested I ask him a few questions, to nudge the process forward. I was skeptical, because he's a man of few words. As you'll soon see:

Me: "What is your favorit thing about The Hotdogger?"

Anthony: "The atmospere, the employees are always so enthusiastic about your business, they are very friendly"

Me: "What is your favorite hotdog"

The Hotdogger has a huge selection of hotdog's to choose from, customizable by both sausage and toppings.

My brother replies: "I forgot."

How helpful. I urge him to try and give me something to write about. He goes on: "There's this one mustard; it's so good."

There are several mustards to choose from at The Hotdogger. They are all very good. But since my brother and I are both seemingly at a loss of words over the deliciousness of these Davis dogs, you will have to go try it out for yourself.

I guess you could say I'm speechless. But I think that says something good about the hotdogs.

The Hotdogger is located at 129 E St. They are open from 11:00 am to 6:30 pm Monday to Friday, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, and 11:30 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday.

On Wednesday they shut the E st. shop early and move the hot dog stand over to the Davis Farmer's Market, where you can try one of their delicious farmer's market corn dogs.
