As the newbie around here, I’m obviously still learning. There are times I feel comfortable and at home. Other times, I feel like a tourist. I’d say that for the most part, I’m feeling more and more relaxed though, just like anyone new to a different environment.
My most recent goal has been to look for a salon. As any typical female, I need at least one dependable salon. In my old town, I went to a salon that was pushy with the sales. And when I say pushy, I mean really pushy.
They’d try to force me with some pre-paid package for all my visits. Every time they asked, I politely said no, but that didn’t stop them from asking again, no matter how often I turned them down. Granted, they were very nice whenever I actually went in. Those kind of salons may try to force money out of you, but at least they do it sweetly. Service with a smile, as they say.

I decided to take my chances again with a very similar salon that I knew carried the same reputation in Davis as it did in my hometown. I walked in the building, trusting their promise that they take walk-ins. The girl at the front was nice when she asked if I had an appointment.
After I told her I was just a walk-in, she said I would have to wait forty-five minutes. I told them no, thank you and told them I would come back another time. Sure, I will.

Instead, I finally found another place in Davis that I can go without a supposedly amazing deal offered to me repeatedly. That place was , located in downtown Davis on F Street. I went to a woman named Megan, who was very friendly and polite.
If anyone needs to have their eyebrows waxed, I recommend her. Spa Central also does massages, manicures and pedicures, spa packages, among others. It’s a comfortable and cozy little abode and I’m happy to have found it.
I’ll be writing again soon with another Davis life lesson in tow. Thank you for reading!
