Davis Police to Host Second Community Dialogue
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Jan. 21.

From the Davis Police Department:
The Davis Police Department will be hosting a community dialogue on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at 6:30 pm at the Davis Veterans Memorial Center located at 203 E.14th St, Davis.
This is the second of a series of community dialogues following the acquisition and return of the MRAP vehicle. The purpose of the first community dialogue was to develop a common understanding of community policing in Davis in light of emerging public safety challenges and the community’s response to these changes.
A common theme developed during the course of the first dialogue was the distinction of “BEING SAFE” and “FEELING SAFE” as expressed by the desire for public safety and the feeling that the MRAP and excessive police tactics lead to a sense of police militarization.
This community dialogue will focus on:
• The concerns, emotions, and fears associated with police militarization.
• The police departments response to critical incidents and protests.
• Aligned expectations around the needs of the general community and its police.
