“Congratulations to Congresswoman Haaland on her historic nomination. I’ve seen Congresswoman Haaland’s commitment to public service firsthand while serving with her on the Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness,” Garamendi said. “As the former Deputy Secretary of the Interior under President Bill Clinton, I also have a firsthand perspective on the work and challenges that come with managing the Department of Interior.
Congresswoman Haaland is a historical pick as the first Native American to lead the department and I look forward to working with her to meet President-elect Biden’s goal to conserve our public lands and address our nation’s climate crisis,” Garamendi concluded.
