Day in Downtown event introduces new students to downtown Davis (theaggie.org) — Downtown Davis businesses and artists are teaming up again for the Day in Downtown event on Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on E Street. Local shop owners describe how the fair helps new UC Davis students and families discover independent stores, build community connections, and better link campus life with the broader Davis business scene.

Updated Fiscal Analysis Projects Willowgrove Would Generate $12 Million to $12.5 Million in Present-Value General Fund Surplus (davisvanguard.org) — Davis residents weighing Measure W now have updated numbers suggesting the proposed Willowgrove housing project could add roughly $12 million in present-value surplus to the city's General Fund over 15 years. The analysis, by the city's original consultant but commissioned by project supporters, assumes no new fire station and a special tax district, while noting key revenue-sharing details with Yolo County remain unsettled.
   

3. Small animal rotating internship at UC Davis retuns (veterinarypracticenews.com) — UC Davis' Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital is reviving its one-year Small Animal Rotating Internship for the 2027–28 academic year, offering five positions in Davis. Veterinarians will rotate through core and elective specialties, gaining supervised hands-on experience and preparation for residencies, emergency practice, or advanced clinical careers, with applications open through January 4, 2027.

UC Davis Welcomes Grand Canyon (ucdavisaggies.com) — UC Davis women's soccer hosts Grand Canyon in Davis on Wednesday night, with kickoff pushed to 7 p.m. because of extreme heat and special Pride Day and Jr. Aggie Day promotions. Local fans get full ticket, parking, and streaming details, plus a recap of the Aggies' season so far and what's ahead at Aggie Soccer Field.
   

5. List: Leslie's Pool Supplies store closures in the Bay Area as company files for bankruptcy (ktvu.com) — Leslie's Pool Supplies has closed its Davis store as part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy that's shuttering 76 locations nationwide, including several in the Bay Area. The company says it will keep operating online and through remaining stores while restructuring, but Davis residents will now need to look elsewhere locally for pool and spa supplies.
