Cal Poly Men's Soccer settles for draw with UC Davis after taking two-goal lead (mustangnews.net) — UC Davis men's soccer rallied from a 2-0 deficit at home to earn a 2-2 draw against Cal Poly, keeping the Aggies' early season hopes alive. After Cal Poly dominated the first half, UC Davis surged back with heavy pressure, a big shot advantage, and a late equalizer from Nico Collins in a tough early-season test. 
2. ASRC Wins $494M DCSA Case Processing Support Contract (clearancejobs.com) — A Davis-based firm, Far Western Anthropological Research Group, just landed a share of a $70 million Navy contract to provide archaeological and cultural resource services across the Pacific. While most work will happen in Hawaii, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands, the award underscores Davis's role in specialized research supporting long-term military construction and preservation projects.
3. New genomics technique promises insights into social bonding (cshl.edu) — UC Davis scientists are leading a major genomics project that has produced the most complete prairie and meadow vole genomes yet, opening new paths to study how brains form social bonds. By combining advanced sequencing methods, the Davis-led team clarified a key gene duplication tied to pair bonding, work that could eventually inform research on social communication challenges, including autism.
4. Worker bees filtered 95 percent of a pesticide out of the food they stored on day two and only 86 percent by day ten, and in the same laboratory colonies the queen was routing her own chemical burden (scienceblog.com) — UC Davis researchers helped uncover how honey bee queens may offload pesticide exposure into their eggs, with worker bees in Davis-sourced colonies acting as an initial "filter" for contaminated food. The study tracked pesticide movement in small lab colonies over 10 days, suggesting that colony-level pesticide impacts can't be understood by testing worker bees alone. While locally rooted in UC Davis work, the findings have global implications for pollinator health.
