Davis police find battery suspect after sweeping search, safety advisory (sacbee.com) — Davis police quickly located and arrested a 35-year-old local man after a woman reported being assaulted in an Alvarado Avenue apartment laundry room near Covell Park. Officers briefly asked residents to avoid the Anderson Road and Covell Boulevard area during the search, then issued an all-clear once the suspect was detained on suspicion of false imprisonment.

More than 70 human remains discovered at former cemetery on UC Davis campus in Sacramento (fox40.com) — UC Davis Health officials report that 77 human remains were uncovered this year during construction on the Sacramento UC Davis campus, which overlaps a former county hospital cemetery. While there's no evidence the remains are Native American, the university is coordinating with local agencies to secure, study, and respectfully reinter them, underscoring the region's layered history that Davis residents are closely tied to.
