Two Minors Accused Of Making Prank Call Of 'Man With Gun' At Davis School

Emerson Junior High School was placed on lockdown today after the phone call.

Two juveniles were taken into custody today by the Davis Police Department for allegedly making a phone call -- later determined to be a hoax -- to 911 stating that a man with a gun was in front of a Davis school.

At 1:15 p.m., the Davis PD received a 911 transfer call from the California Highway Patrol in which a “distraught sounding” male reported that a white man wearing all black clothing and holding a gun was standing in front of Emerson Junior High School on B Street in west Davis, police said. The caller then hung up, and no further details were given, police said.

The school was immediately put on lockdown, and officers and deputies from Davis, the UC Davis Police Department, and the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office responded and searched the campus, police said.
