Del Mar Hosts Final Public Meeting on Prop J on Monday

The City of Del Mar will host its last community meeting on Prop J—the Village Specific Plan—from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29 at the City Hall Annex.

The City of Del Mar is holding its final question and answer session on the Village Specific Plan (Prop J) on Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The city has hosted more than 80 public meetings on the proposition since last year. The final meeting before Election Day will be held at the City Hall Annex at 235 11th St. in Del Mar.

The Q&A is for community members who have questions on the Village Specific Plan, which residents will vote on as Prop J on Election Day.

The Village Specific Plan is "intended to achieve the Del Mar Community Plan's objective of creating an economically viable and pedestrian oriented commercial district within the Del Mar Village."

Major components of Village Specific Plan are the redesign of Camino Del Mar to a two lane roadway with roundabouts at 9th, 11th and 13th streets, creation of a mixed use zone for the commercial properties which allows residential development, and introduction of a parking plan that includes building a parking garage.

We urge residents to read the attached executive summary of the Village Specific Plan, review the conceptual plan for Camino Del Mar, and dig into the full Village Specific Plan. In addition, the city posted some of the questions asked in previous sessions with answers. (You can find key documents to the right or by visiting delmar.ca.us
