Del Mar Props H & J Do Not Pass

The two Del Mar propositions, both Prop H on regulating medical marijuana and Prop J, the city's Village Specific Plan, did not pass during the general election.

Voters in Del Mar turned down both the Village Specific Plan and regulation on medical marijuana at the polls on Tuesday.

The city hosted more than 80 public meetings since introducing the proposed Village Specific Plan last year. The Village Specific Plan was "intended to achieve the Del Mar Community Plan's objective of creating an economically viable and pedestrian oriented commercial district within the Del Mar Village."

Major components of Village Specific Plan were the redesign of Camino Del Mar to a two lane roadway with roundabouts at 9th, 11th and 13th streets, creation of a mixed use zone for the commercial properties which allows residential development, and introduction of a parking plan that includes building a parking garage.
