Del Mar Union School District Falls Short Passing $76.M Bond Proposition

The Del Mar Union School District with eight elementary schools did not get enough votes to pass its $76.8 million bond issue to renovate schools and update technology.

The Del Mar Union School District's Del Mar 21st-Century Classrooms and Technology Measure or Prop CC did not gain enough votes to pass on Tuesday. The measure, which required 55 percent of the vote, only pulled in 53.2 percent.

The bond issued would have been used to renovate schools and update technology for the district's eight elementary schools in Del Mar, Del Mar Heights and Carmel Valley.

The bond would have cost homeowners $8.44 per $100,000 of assessed property value (not market value)–or about $65 per year for the average homeowner.
