Summer Movies in the Park, City Council Meeting and Pinback

Here is what's happening for the coming week.

Del Mar City Council Meeting

• City Council Meeting will discuss city policy, budget and resources. The meeting start at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5 at the Communications Building at 240 10th Street, Del Mar.

• The event will celebrate the completion of the Beach Safety Center project and recognize the community, volunteers and sponsors who participated. Luau Celebration will start at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at the Powerhouse Community Center. Tickets are $60.

• Free and Easy Wednesday is back at the Del Mar Races! Get free Stretch Run Admission and Stretch Run seat on Wednesdays. Grab an ice cold beer for half off. Gates open at Noon and first post is at 2 p.m. 

• Watch a free movie under the stars. Summer Movies in the Park will feature the film Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. Movie will start 15 minutes after sunset on Friday, Aug. 9 at Sage Canyon Park, Carmel Valley. 

• After a day at the races, enjoy a concert by San Diego based band Pinback. Concert is free with paid admission or $20 after the last race. The concert will start shortly after the last race on Friday, Aug. 9 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
