• Two 18-Year-Old Men Arrested After Vehicle Hits Fire Hydrant in DHS (mynewsla.com) — Two 18-year-old men were arrested after a vehicle allegedly hit a fire hydrant in Desert Hot Springs and then fled, prompting a police search Monday afternoon. Officers later stopped the car near Mesquite and Flora avenues, and Cal Fire plus Mission Springs Water District crews had to control the damaged hydrant's water flow. No injuries were reported.
   

• Victim of 1974 Riverside County cold case homicide identified as 19-year-old woman (cbsnews.com) — Investigators have finally identified a woman whose body was found partially buried in the Desert Hot Springs desert back in 1974, using modern DNA and genealogy tools. Authorities say the victim was 19-year-old Rebecca Jean McMahan and are now asking anyone who knew her or recalls suspicious activity in the area to contact the Riverside County Regional Cold Case Homicide Team.
