A Third of Diamond Bar's Children Obese

The city was ranked by researchers at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research and the California Center for Public Health Advocacy.

About a third of children in Diamond Bar are classified as being overweight or obese, according to a study by the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research and the California Center for Public Health Advocacy.

The study, released earlier this month, was based on the California Department of Education’s 2010 Physical Fitness Tests. The UCLA researchers examined the reports from fifth, seventh and ninth grade students from schools in more than 250 Californian cities.

Diamond Bar’s obesity rate was set at 29.4 percent and was ranked among the cities with lower obesity rates, officials said.
