Young Artists Honored By WVUSD Board

Forty students from the Walnut Valley Unified School District received certificates for participating in an art cover contest.

The Walnut Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees recognized 40 artists from across the district for their award-winning entries in the 2012 “Draw a Cover for Music K-8 Magazine” contest.

The winners were announced by music specialist Judy Brunelle, and each was given a certificate of recognition. The top winners also had their artwork featured on the magazine’s website.

The top winners were Allyson Lee of Quail Summit (second runner up); Karen Liu of Westhoff (third runner up); Megan Young of Maple Hill (eighth runner up); and Hannah Chu of Castle Rock (Promising Young Artist).

Top finalists were Athena Tang, Sonia Park, Ian Wong, Rachel Wang, Louisa Guo, WooJin Jeong, Kaitlyn Choi, Allen Chun, Samantha Hong, and Anna Saito.

Finalists were Amy Lo, Tristen Baca, Canny Huang, Oscar Chou, Kayla Widjaja, Christian Chang, Darren Wang, Carmella Pacillas, Janice Kwon, Sky Shin, Audrey Han, and Katherine Tran.

Honorable Mentions were given to Christine Zhou, Aaron Tamura, Annie Hwang, Nripesh Chaudhari, Tiffany Yeh, Minnie Lee, Joyce Lin,Maggie Delgado, Molly Tseng, Hailey Song, Julian Xu, Hannah Park, and Virginia Wang.
