Smoke, classic cars, and more than ten-thousand revelers filled downtown Saturday, as Dixon’s Grillin’ and Chillin’ completed it’s fourth successful year.
The 100-degree heat couldn’t keep rib connoisseurs away, as bbq masters sweated it out in front of their smokers and grills all day, pumping out grub.
Miss Aerial Wernecke, a Vacaville High School Junior opened the event with a powerful rendition of the National Anthem, bringing tears to many eyes.

Immaculate classic cars lined Jackson, A and B Streets, all vying for the coveted title Best of Show.
Car show director, Janette Barrango, told the Patch, “This was yet another amazing car and truck show. Numbers haven’t been completely totaled yet, but our raffle was a huge success. We had Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Sacramento RiverCat, and Sonoma Raceway gift baskets. We received donations from Panera, Mary's Pizza Shack, Dixon O'Reilly, Cattlemen's and so many more.”

Women’s Improvement Park was alive with a demonstration stage, free books from the library, a paintball experience, CHP and pony rides; while vendors, a water slide and a pink Breast Cancer fire engine filled Highway 113 all the way down to Mayes Street.
Live music set the atmosphere at the south end of the event for the main event, the food. Whether using a vertical water, drum or offset dry smoker, each chef had his own barbecue sauce/rub/marinade combo that ensured he created the best ribs; but in the end, only one was crowned Rib Master.
