Brown the New Green? Hah! Not When There's Paint!!!

Dixon entrepreneur uses an old golf course trick on suburban lawns.

Dixon’s Bill Schaffer doesn’t like the look of a brown lawn one bit. He gets the need for water conservation but covets the look of a lush, green lawn.

So the entrepreneur started his own company earlier this year, Brown Lawn Green, to spray paint lawns. Yep.

Now we’re not talking gloppy latex paint, but colorants made of stone pigments and oil that helps bind it to the grass. It’s safe for pets, wildlife and kids. Schaffer emphasizes that it’s “all natural, all organic,” and gaining in popularity.

A Sacramento TV station did a story about Schaffer’s business that’s been run on TV stations across California and in several cities around the country. He’s even been notified that CNN will air the story.

“It’s getting pretty viral right now. One video posted online had 700,000 views this morning, and now it’s had over 800,000.”

And the impact of that story on has been “crazy. Phone calls, emails—I can’t keep up.” And new business? “Oh, yeah!”

So if you’re looking for a green lawn without a $10,000 fine, Dixon’s own Brown Lawn Green has the solution for you.
