Coroner IDs Man Struck, Killed By Big-Rig On I-80

VACAVILLE, CA — The Solano County coroner's office has identified Thomas Utu, 37, as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a big-rig on Interstate Highway 80 in Vacaville Wednesday morning.

The coroner's office has not determined where Utu lived.

The California Highway Patrol said Utu was walking in the No. 4 lane on eastbound Highway 80 just east of Alamo Drive around 6:50 a.m. when an International big-rig hit him. The driver stopped at the scene.

The incident was one of two fatalities involving pedestrians this week on I-80.
