Teen, 16, In Dixon Arrested In Fatal Shooting

A 17-year-old juvenile died after the Friday incident at Northwest Park.

A teenage boy has been arrested for the fatal shooting of another teen in Dixon on Friday, police said.

Police responded at 8:10 p.m. Friday to a report of a shooting at Northwest Park off of West H Street, Dixon police Chief Jon Cox said. The 17-year-old juvenile, whose name has not been released, was taken to Kaiser Permanente’s Vacaville Medical Center, where he died, Cox said.

At about 3 p.m. Saturday, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the shooting. The suspect’s name is not being released because he is a juvenile, police said.

The homicide is the first in Dixon since 2008 and police said they are investigating whether the killing was gang-related.
