Pedestrian, 86, Killed Crossing Vacaville Street Identified

SOLANO COUNTY, CA – Vacaville police have identified a man who died after he was struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning as 86-year-old Jim Greenwood.

The incident happened on Woodcrest Drive between Alpine and Brown streets around 7:30 a.m., police Lt. Mark Donaldson said.

Greenwood was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Greenwood, a Vacaville resident who walked with a cane, was not crossing the road in a crosswalk, Donaldson said.

The female driver of the eastbound pickup truck stopped and called 911. She said she did not see the man because the sun was in her eyes, Donaldson said.
