ALCO Sheriff's Deputy In Custody After Dublin Double Homicide
Devin Williams Jr., of Stockton, surrendered in Central California after a shooting that killed two Wednesday, officials said.
DUBLIN, CA — An off-duty, Alameda County Sheriff's deputy, wanted in connection with a shooting that killed two in a Dublin home Wednesday morning, surrendered to law enforcement in Central California, according to authorities.
Deputy Devin Williams Jr., 24, a Stockton resident, whom witnesses identified as the shooter, remained at large until midday when he surrendered near Coalinga and was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol officers, sheriff's Sgt. Ray Kelly said at a news conference.
Dublin police responded at 12:45 a.m. to 911 call of a shooting inside a residence on the 3100 block of Colebrook Lane. A man and woman, suffering gunshot wounds, were pronounced deceased at the scene, Dublin officials said.

Kelly said Williams surrendered after speaking on the phone with Dublin Police Chief Garrett Holmes and other members of the Sheriff's Office, which contracts with the city of Dublin to provide police services.
Williams allegedly threw the firearm out of his vehicle in the Altamont Pass area and authorities were looking for it Wednesday afternoon, Kelly said.

Details about what led to the fatal shooting of the man and woman were not yet being released by the Sheriff's Office. Their identities also were not released.
"Our agency's in shock," Kelly said. "This is not something that we deal with, this is not what we're about."
During the initial hours of the incident as the manhunt ensued, officials said Williams was off-duty at the time of the killings and was "considered armed and dangerous."
Williams was listed as possibly driving a gray, 2007 Volkswagen Jetta, with California license 6MEA916, or a 2015 Hyundai with license 9BMB449, the agency said.
