Back to Real Life After Homecoming
Homecoming week is over as suddenly as it began, and students are back to the everyday stresses and realities of school.

After a week of sleepless nights and anticipation, Dublin High's students are back on track.
Last week, students rehearsed skits, dressed up and arrived at school at 5 a.m. as part of the craziness that is homecoming week. Monday through Wednesday, classes rehearsed their respective skits in the evenings for Thursday's homecoming rally.
The most dedicated of students arrived at Dublin High at 5 a.m. Thursday to decorate an area for their class that would be judged based on theme. After school Thursday, some students stayed to break down the area and build the float on the flatbed trucks for the parade the next day. That evening students attended the skit rally, which involved lots of screaming and lots of adrenaline. And on Friday, school was released half an hour early to leave plenty of time for the parade, the carnival and the homecoming football game against Campolindo.

The week's excitement all led to the "grand finale": the homecoming dance Saturday night.
Especially for underclassmen, the homecoming dance is a very special event. It's one of the few chances high-school students get to really dress up and go out. Underclassmen generally don't attend prom, so for freshmen and sophomores, the homecoming dance is their time to really shine and look their best. For juniors and seniors, it's a night to go out and have fun, and an event that makes you look forward to prom even more.

This was my third homecoming, and it was definitely the best one. My friend took me to prom as a sophomore, so I know what to expect come April, but this year's homecoming with my friends made me even more excited for prom.
However, when you wake up Monday morning after homecoming and realize that the week of fun and games is over, it's a very depressing moment. Teachers go back to piling homework on their students, giving the tests they postponed until after homecoming week. Everyone goes back to their normal responsibilities, and their normal sleeping and eating patterns. Students are left to wonder, "What's next?"
Homecoming is over as suddenly as it came upon us, and now it's back to the grindstone. Life is back to normal, and students are left to wait for the next exciting thing.
