Runners: Cross Train with Yoga
Cross training with yoga can have many benefits. Read about how it can improve your runs and your overall well being.

I started running in September last year and I feel such a huge difference in my sleep, my eating habits, and I feel healthier overall.
I decided about two months ago to give yoga a try and while I must say that adding yoga to my running workouts have helped with variety, I've also gained a healthier outlook and felt a huge difference physically and mentally.
Joining a yoga studio is one of the best things I've done for myself. Bikram Yoga is also one of the best things I could have done for myself.

Something about the relaxation combined with intense positions that force you to rely on your inner strength to push yourself even more each day.
I'm not going to lie. The 90 degree room scared me a little at first, but you get used to it throughout your workout and it helps to keep your muscles warm. As a result of the intensity of the positions and the heat, your body and mind get stronger over time.

I've noticed after two months of yoga at least 3 times a week, running has been easier. I feel bouncier, lighter, stronger. My lungs are more flexible (probably from the heavy emphasis on breathing and being in a 90 degree room for 90 minutes each yoga session) and I can breathe easier. My muscles don't hurt as much and I've heard from other yogis that incorporating yoga can help injuries as well as prevent them.
