Dublin Councilmember Hernandez Launches Mayoral Bid
Melissa Hernandez has served on the Dublin City Council since 2016.

DUBLIN, CA — Dublin City Councilmember Melissa Hernandez is throwing her hat in the ring in Dublin's mayoral race.
Hernandez began serving the council in 2016. She is an aide to Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty, who oversees Dublin, Livermore and Fremont, according to a news release announcing her candidacy.
Hernandez said on her campaign website that she seeks to: retain and support local businesses by creating a micro-loan program; improve public safety and emergency medical response; reduce traffic; protect open space; and identify more partnerships between the city and Dublin schools.

“In these challenging times, I’ll ensure Dublin is ready for any emergency while maintaining the quality of life the people of Dublin expect and deserve," she said in the news release.
Hernandez has a background in the dental and health industries, she said on her website. She represents Dublin on the boards of Alameda County Stop Waste, East Bay Community Energy, Livermore-Amador Transit Authority (LAVTA) and Tri-Valley Regional Authority, she said.

Hernandez was seeking Haggerty's seat, but Dublin Mayor David Haubert and Fremont City Councilmember Vinnie Bacon received more votes and will compete for the seat in November.
