Dublin Dad Killed In Tragic Delta Boating Accident

A day of boating turned into a nightmare for a Tri-Valley family. The community is rallying to help.

DUBLIN, CA — The community is mourning the loss of a Dublin man who was killed in June during a tragic accident while spending the day boating on the Delta in San Joaquin County.

Carlos Tovar, 41, died June 23 after he was pulled under the water by an irrigation pipe located near the Empire Cut Waterway near Lower Jones Road, according to family members and the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said the boaters were towing a skier and when the tow line became tangled in the propeller, Tovar got into the water to untangle the line. He never resurfaced.
