Bay Area Homicide Suspect Arrested In Barstow
The suspect was picked up nearly 400 miles from the scene of the crime, in a city that is intersected by two interstate freeways.

DUBLIN, CA — Dublin police released the name of the suspect in Friday’s homicide on Hacienda Drive, the department said in a news release Monday afternoon.
After an investigation, police named Nicholas Paleveda, 38, as the suspect, and issued a warrant for his arrest. Barstow police located Paleveda at a Walmart in Barstow at around noon Saturday, and he was arrested without incident.
Nearly 400 miles from Dublin, Barstow is a city that is intersected by interstate highways 40 and 15.

Police said they will not release the identity of the victim.

Police continue to investigate to determine a motive and determine how the two men knew each other.
Hacienda Drive, Central Parkway, and nearby Dougherty Elementary School were all closed down. Dougherty students were dismissed about 30 minutes before the shooting, but some students and staff remained, and were placed on lockdown. All roads and schools were reopened by 4:30 p.m., when police said there was no threat to the public.
