When CJSF group heard about the fundraiser
to collect new pajamas for foster children, they immediately took action.

They put donation boxes around campus and informed people about how foster children were in desperate need for pajamas.

Many students participated and teachers helped by encouraging students to donate. They ended the drive with a pajama and read-in day on March 2.

Much to the advisor’s delight, the end of the pajama drive coincided with Dr. Seuss’s birthday and read-in day. Many students were happy to be able to wear their pajamas to school as well as donate to a worthy cause.

After weeks of receiving donated pajamas, CJSF officers Nicole Chen, Sophie Butler, Ianna Fong, and Chandler Cruz, counted up the pajama total with assistance from their advisors.

They came up with a total of 66 new pajamas and 60 “gently used” ones which were donated to Shepard’s Gate in Livermore. The officers piled in a car to bring the new pajamas to Sleep Train the following week.

The workers as Sleep Train were delighted to see so many generous donations from middle school students.

CJSF advisor Kelly Zummo, said “We are going to make the pajama drive an annual event in conjunction with our hot-cocoa fund-raiser and national-read-in day. Staff and students alike enjoyed participating in all three activities.”

Fallon Middle School CJSF plans to repeat the successful pajama drive year after year.
