Kumon of Dublin-West Open House

Throughout the month of March, Kumon, the world’s largest after-school enrichment program, is partnering with Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the nation’s largest children’s literacy organization dedicated to providing books and literacy resources to underserved children across the country.

The local Kumon of Dublin-West Center is celebrating this partnership with a literacy open house event on Saturday, March 3rd from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 7764 Dublin Blvd., Dublin CA 94568.  Local educators and families are invited to attend the free event, which will feature fun games, prizes, and refreshments.   Read aloud sessions from classic children’s books like Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss will also take place.  For every student that enrolls during the month of March, Kumon of Dublin-West will donate $10, equivalent to four new books, to RIF.   Kumon North America is committed to donating a minimum of $50,000 in support of RIF’s mission.

The literacy open house will also feature a book drive to support RIF.  In middle-income neighborhoods the ratio of books per child is 13 to one, while in low-income neighborhoods, the ratio is one age-appropriate book for every 300 children. Families are encouraged to bring new books to support child literacy and help spread the joy of reading.
