Local Students Named National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists

The students came from Dublin High.

Three students were named semi-finalists in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship program.

The students joined 16,000 others across the country a step closer to winning a piece of $34 million in scholarships.

In all, there are 8,300 scholarships, which winning students would see next spring if they advance farther in the contest.

Students who win a scholarship earn the title of National Merit Scholar.

More than a million high school students in the U.S. entered the scholarship contest this year. The national pool of semi-finalists represents about 1 percent of high school seniors.
