Police Identify Jail Inmate, Boyfriend as 'Range Rover Package Thieves'

The couple was allegedly caught on camera stealing a package off of a Dublin porch and are believed to be connected to additional thefts.

DUBLIN, CA: Police are asking for the public's help finding a man they say has been identified as part of a duo suspected of stealing packages off of front porches in Dublin, Danville and Alamo.

Police officials say a tip from Dublin Patch helped investigators to identify Shawna McLemore and her boyfriend Stephen Koperski.

"A detective interviewed McLemore at Santa Rita Jail, who was in custody on unrelated charges, where she admitted to the package theft in Dublin and others in neighboring jurisdictions," Dublin Police Capt. Garrett Holmes told Patch.

According to Garrett, McLemore admitted to stealing packages in Dublin and other areas of the Tri-Valley with Koperski for the excitement of stealing.

Koperski, who goes by the moniker “Knowledge," is a transient. Police say his whereabouts are unknown at this time.

On April 20, a female suspect was caught on camera as she swiped a package off of a porch in a neighborhood near the Hacienda Crossings shopping center. In the video, a dark-colored Range Rover pulls in front of the home and the female suspect exits the passenger side of the car, grabs the box off of the porch and goes back to the vehicle.

Similar package thefts involving a dark-colored Range Rover had been reported in the unincorporated areas of Danville, according to a report in the Danville San Ramon News. Holmes said investigators believe the incidents are related.

Anyone who has information about Koperski is asked to contact Detective Buenrostro at 925-833-6670. Contra Costa Sheriff's officials have not yet been reached for comment.

Holmes said police will be submitting theft charges on both to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
