Resident Says Jing Firmeza Will Put Dubliners First

Dublin resident Faye Ellis says "voters have to be more vigilant."

Dear Editor:

I, like many of us, have been seeking city council leaders who put residents’ interests first and are not simply
focused on rolling out endorsements that often seem little more than just window dressing. I want to see
candidates define themselves clearly, versus being defined by their endorsers. I want a candidate who isn’t afraid to speak their mind about what we’ve done wrong and how we can fix it. I want a candidate that cares for this city as I do.

These days voters have to be more vigilant as ever as many endorsements from outside groups require written
questionnaires. These should be made public by the candidates so that people know they are voting for a
candidate who will put the interests of residents before special interests. We have a responsibility as a voter to
educate ourselves on what is happening across our city so that we can hold candidates accountable for their
platforms.

When I read Jing Firmeza’s letter to the community announcing his candidacy, I knew that he was someone who will act with Dublin’s long-term interest in mind. Not satisfied with accepting old ways of thinking, Jing looks at existing problems such as overcrowding from a fresh and forward-thinking perspective. His vision for Dublin’s future, includes championing a vibrant city where people want to live, work and spend time because there is always something to do.

This includes supporting pedestrian friendly solutions and attracting new corporate jobs in Dublin. Jing also
knows our city cannot continue on its current path. He has educated himself about the financial issues our city faces and as a retired state accountant, he will ensure the city makes better financial decisions by not just
defaulting to tax increases.

Jing understands that tax increases hit our seniors particularly hard and also hinders the ability of our younger residents to establish a strong financial foundation. Jing Firmeza is a longtime Dublin resident and will be the breath of fresh air our city leadership needs. As a concerned parent and citizen, I know that Jing will focus on making us all proud of where we live again. I hope others will join me in voting for him for City Council.

Sincerely,

Faye Ellis, Dublin resident
