Volunteer Day, Compost Giveaway & More Scheduled In Dublin Saturday
Head down to Emerald Glen Park Saturday morning to help clean up the city, 'plog,' get compost, and more as Pride Week kicks off.
DUBLIN, CA — There’s no better way to harness the spirit of Earth Day than to help clean up the community, on Saturday, that’s exactly what’s happening in Dublin.
The city is kicking off its Pride Week with Dublin Pride Volunteer Day, when Dublin residents of all ages can help out with a number of projects. At the end of the session, volunteers can enjoy a community barbecue lunch at Emerald Glen Park, and a complimentary pass to The Wave for the 2023 Waterpark season.
At 11:30 a.m., Willdan Energy Solution will provide a tour of The Wave’s new energy efficiency and infrastructure upgrades, which includes solar panel and battery energy storage installation. Register here.

The day will begin at 8 a.m. at Emerald Glen Park. Volunteers will receive a light breakfast, and receive information on specific assignments. Tasks include:
- Litter collection
- Planting trees and plants
- Spreading decomposed granite on pathways
- Filling sand in playgrounds
- Spreading mulch around planted areas
- Weeding planted areas
- Planting trees and shrubs and spreading mulch at DUSD sites
- Cleaning up creeks and trails throughout the city
Tools will be provided, but volunteers can also bring their own. Volunteers are also asked to bring water, sunscreen, work gloves and wear close-toed shoes.

See here to register. All volunteers must sign a waiver. Anyone under age 15 should be accompanied by an adult.
Volunteers can also register for the all-day “Plogging Challenge” Saturday. Volunteers can jog and make quick stops to pick up litter. Kits will be available from 8-12 at Emerald Glen Park. See here for more information.
There will also be a free compost giveaway to Dublin residents at Emerald Glen Park from 8-12, or while supplies last.
Saturday will also feature a Prescription Drug Take-Back/Document Shredding/E-Waste Collection Event at the Dublin Civic Center from 10-2.
Pride Week will last from April 22-29. The week is designed to encourage Dubliners to give back to their city. See here for a full list of events.
