Woman Arrested in Connection with Hit-And-Run Crash That Seriously Injured Dublin Teen

Dublin resident Nicole Wieland faces felony charges.

Dublin, CA— A woman has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a teenager seriously injured last week in Dublin. Police officials said twenty-six-year-old Nicole Wieland came forward as the driver of the car and gave a statement to investigators.

"The report was submitted to the District Attorney’s Office where felony hit-and-run and stolen vehicle charges were filed," police said in a statement. "Wieland was taken into custody on a $100,000 felony and $25,000 misdemeanor warrant and booked at Santa Rita Jail."

The 17-year-old was injured on June 29 when a hit-and-run driver slammed into a pole which hit the boy, according to police. Residents said they reported the collision in the area of Vomac Road and Shannon Avenue around 8:50 p.m. after hearing the boy's screams. The driver allegedly fled the area but the suspect's car was recovered and impounded as evidence the next day.

The victim's parents said the boy, who was walking his dog at the time, suffered four fractured vertebrae and a lacerated kidney and was taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. He has since been released and is recovering from his injuries.
