Sorry, Dodgers Fans, MLB Tried To Stream Your Games

As year five the Dodgers blackout affects most of the team's LA fans, the league said it's been try to find a workaround.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Major League Baseball signaled Tuesday a willingness to find a workaround for Dodgers fans stymied by the team’s television blackout.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Commissioner Rob Manfred said the league has been seeking ways to stream Dodgers games as the fifth consecutive season of blackouts wears on. However, the Dodgers’ $8.35-billion deal Charter Communications, guarantees the cable company right to all broadcasts, including streaming, he said.

Charter has been unable to convince the other cable and satellite providers to pick up SportsNet LA, limiting most fans to the handful of games airing on national broadcasts throughout the season. He vowed to keep trying in the off -season.

“We explored some alternatives with the interested parties that might have used some Major League Baseball assets to get greater distribution,” Manfred told the Times. “Unfortunately, a lot of those creative ideas we have affect the balance of power or the economic situation of the distributor or the RSN. It’s difficult to convince people to go along with any of these creative ideas. But we will be back at it again during this off-season.”
