Unusual Job Openings Around Echo Park-Silver Lake

Patch found the jobs that will take you to new places, introduce you to unusual people or nudge you outside your comfort zone.

LOS ANGELES, CA — One of my favorite people once quit the newspaper business and found herself taking freelance gigs to get by while she built her own business. Among the weirder jobs she held was professional wrestling urine specimen collector. That means it was her job to watch wrestlers go in a cup. At least it paid well.

Another friend made balloon animals as a clown at kids’ birthday parties during college. It was the strangest thing, she said: "Men at birthday parties always hit on the clown — without fail."

The point is, some jobs are just strange. Other jobs seem normal enough but turn out to be surreal.
