• Fight at El Monte school leads to arrest of 1 adult, 1 juvenile (sgvtribune.com) — A campus fight at Mountain View High School in El Monte on Sept. 11 escalated into a second confrontation involving family members outside the school, leading to the arrest of one woman and one juvenile. El Monte police and a school resource officer intervened, no serious injuries or weapons were reported, and the juvenile was later released to parents.
   

• Football: Burroughs Holds Off Arroyo to Claim First Win (outlooknewspapers.com) — A tight nonleague football game at B.L. Bergstrom Stadium in El Monte ended with Burroughs edging Arroyo High, 28-23, after a late defensive stand. El Monte fans saw Arroyo lead most of the way before Burroughs' quarterback–running back duo of Brandon Chapparo and Sho Fujita combined for four rushing touchdowns to complete the comeback.
