El Cerrito Names New Assistant City Manager
Her background includes positions with the cities of Oakland and San Jose.

EL CERRITO, CA — The City of El Cerrito is pleased to welcome Alexandra Orologas to the position of Assistant City Manager. She assumed her duties on Tuesday.
She comes to the City of El Cerrito from the City of Oakland where she most recently served as an Assistant to the City Administrator, focused on project management, human resources, and triaging complex issues for the City Administrator. She also served as Chief of Staff to a former City Administrator. Prior to Oakland, Alexandra worked for the City of San Jose in various analyst positions in City Manager’s Office and as a Management Fellow in the Departments of Transportation, Housing and the San Jose Public Library.
Alexandra has a passion to serve the complex needs of communities and is passionate about local government given the existing ability at the local level to make impactful change. “I am absolutely honored and thrilled to be selected as El Cerrito’s next Assistant City Manager. I look forward to working with a collaborative team of professionals all focused on providing high quality services to the El Cerrito community,” said Orologas.

Alexandra is a board member and Communications Director/Board Secretary of the Municipal Management Association of Northern California (MMANC), a member of the League of California Cities Governance, Transparency and Labor Relations Policy Committee and serves on the International City/County Management Association’s (ICMA) Advisory Board on Graduate Education. She holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Politics & Legal Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Master of Public Administration from San José State University. In addition, Alexandra holds a Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution from the University of California, Berkeley Extension; is a MMANC/Cal-ICMA Credentialed Government Leader (CGL); and is a graduate of the Local Governance Summer Institute at Stanford University.
