Man Fatally Shot in North Richmond Monday
Sheriff's deputies responded to the incident at about 10 p.m. Monday near Fifth Street and Market Avenue.

A man was fatally shot Monday night in the community of North Richmond, a Contra Costa County sheriff’s lieutenant said today. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident at about 10 p.m. Monday near Fifth Street and Market Avenue, Lt. Kristi Butterfield said. Butterfield was not able to provide many details, but said a man was killed in a shooting there.
More information is expected to become available when homicide investigators return on Wednesday, Butterfield said. There was another homicide about a block away in North Richmond last month. On Nov. 26, 23-year-old Isela Moreno was found dead at a home in the 400 block of Market Avenue, according to sheriff’s officials.
Sheriff’s officials said the following day that they were seeking two men, Guillermo Sanchez, 21, and Lamont Patterson, 19, in Moreno’s death. An update on that case was not immediately available today.
