Instead, they directed staff to keep developing options that balance costs, local hiring, and student apprenticeship opportunities, with a formal decision expected at a future meeting.

The report compares 17 factors like affordability, price appreciation, and job growth, and shows how Elk Grove stacks up against dozens of other California communities from Irvine to Lancaster and Palmdale.
• The SOL Project (egcitizen.com) — A regional health effort is working to make Elk Grove and nearby communities smoke-free by targeting apartments, outdoor spaces, and tobacco sales. The SOL Project partners with residents, churches, youth, and local leaders, offering education, advocacy, and quitting resources to reduce tobacco-related health disparities and protect families from secondhand and thirdhand smoke.
