Epicurean Delights at the First Encinitas Foodie Fest

The first annual Encinitas Foodie Fest Saturday, June 23rd from 10am-5pm at Pacific Station features top San Diego Chefs, Art, Music and Dance to benefit the Healthy Day Fund.

If you are a connoisseur of all things food, local music junkie, parent looking for good wholesome entertainment for your kids or simply in search for something fun to do while supporting a great cause, then don’t miss the first Encinitas Foodie Fest Saturday, June 23rd from 10am-5pm at Pacific Station.

Wabisabi Green introduces the festival that focuses on sustainability while simultaneously promoting local artisanal gourmet foods, art, business and the Coastal Community Foundation’s Healthy Day Fund. Following are highlights.

Chef Demonstrations:
Top talented San Diego chefs involved are John Gonzales of Bottaro Wood Fired Pizza, Jason Gethin of Union Kitchen & Tap, Bernard Guillas of the Marine Room, Dennis Horton of Whole Foods, Kurt Metzger of Kitchen 4140 and Kaitlin Ramos of St. Germain’s Bistro & Café.

Eats:
Event partner Whole Foods Encinitas will be serving succulent barbeque featuring sliders made from local, sustainable, grass-fed beef supplied by Homegrown Meats. Proceeds benefit Healthy Day. Food trucks Firehouse Chefs and FoodFarm will offer gourmet delights from their location on 101 in front of Pacific Station. Solace & the Moonlight Lounge will be serving White Sangria and Draft Beer in their outdoor patio.

Artisanal Goods:
There will be an extensive range of gourmet food products to sample and taste such as baked goods from Sadie Rose Baking Company or Bread & Butter Baking Company, enticing sweets from Sea Salt Candy Company or Millie’s Gelato, savory cheese from Fiscalini Farms, and tantalizing spreads from Majestic Garlic or Pacific Beach Peanut Butter. In addition, gourmet food-related products include Wabisabi Green’s eco friendly table linens made in San Diego, Bottlehood’s recycled creation’s and The bUZZ Ladies social networking group centered around restaurant reviews.

Art:
Check out the crazy assortment of living succulent centerpieces created for the Healthy Day Auction by 11 local artists from metal craft by Danny Salzhandler to ceramic works by myself, Maria De Castro and Cheryl Tall.

Music:
There will be a variety of live musical performances spanning soulful pop to folk to modern country by Karen Real & Doug Danker, Duchess, Jimmy Patton & Enrique Platas, Johs Petroni, Ricky the IV and Trouble in the Wind.

Dance:
Instructors from Frog’s Fitness Center and Total Woman Gym & Day Spa will provide lively ZUMBA performances throughout the day.

Kids:
The Boys and Girls Club Center for a Healthy Lifestyle will provide a children’s cooking booth to keep the little ones entertained.
