LAPD Thwarts Alleged Kidnapping

These are the raw scanner reports from Friday and Saturday around the San Fernando Valley.

Here are the raw data of reports collected Friday and Saturday by listening to the police scanner. If there are additional details needed, we'll file full news stories on the items and let you know. (Boldfaced communities are covered by Patch sites.)

Friday

11:39 p.m. Lankershim Boulevard and Strathern Street, North Hollywood

Report of a kidnapping in progress. The kidnapper is described as a white male, wearing a gray sweater and a red shirt. The suspect's vehicle is now seen driving southbound on Lankershim Boulevard near Sherman Way. Police are directed to respond “code 3” (emergency situation, with lights and sirens).

11:42 p.m. Van Noord Avenue and Hart Street, North Hollywood
Patrol officer informs LAPD dispatch that they have the “Code 6 Charles suspect  in custody.” Code 6 means a wanted person known to be dangerous and may be armed.

11:43 p.m. Saticoy Street and Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood
LAPD has stopped the possible kidnapping suspect’s vehicle and now have him in custody at the location. The patrol unit advises that the kidnap victim is still in the car at the Yum Yum Donuts parking lot.

11:47 p.m. 17700 block of Lull Street, Reseda
Report of a battery / domestic violence incident. A man dressed in a gold shirt is seen attacking a woman dressed in brown sweatpants. A West Valley LAPD unit is requested to respond “code 2” (immediately, without lights and sirens).

11:48 p.m. 7800 block of De Soto Avenue, Canoga Park
Report of a “child alone.”

11:49 p.m. 10200 block of Balboa Boulevard, Granada Hills
LAFD emergency call to respond to a “sick person.”

11:50 p.m. Saticoy Street and White Oak Avenue, Lake Balboa
An update to the battery / domestic violence report. “The battery victim is now at the liquor store.” Police are to respond to that location.

Saturday


12:03 a.m. Saticoy Street and White Oak Avenue, Lake Balboa
Responding patrol unit reports that the suspect is “GOA” (gone on arrival; the suspect is not in the vicinity).

12:03 a.m. Woodley Avenue and San Jose Street, Granada Hills
Report of man “in a black hooded sweatshirt” assaulting a “female in a white shirt and pink jacket.”

12:10 a.m. 11500 block of Dona Delores Place, Studio City
LAPD respond to a “211 silent alarm“ at a residence. Possible robbery in progress.

12:16 a.m. Yolanda Avenue and Sherman Way, Reseda
Report of a shooting. The “p.r.” (person reporting) will be at the location to flag down the responding patrol unit.

12:20 a.m. Yolanda Avenue and Sherman Way, Reseda
Two patrol units have responded to the location, One responds back to dispatch, “Code 4 (no further patrol units need respond), suspect in custody.”

12:25 a.m. 14807 West Victory Boulevard, Van Nuys
Emergency call for a multi-vehicle traffic accident with persons trapped in one vehicle. LAFD dispatches several fire and emergency units along with specialized heavy equipment for a “physical rescue.”

12:31 a.m. 14807 West Victory Boulevard, Valley Glen
LAFD has begun extrication of the two crash victims, and they advise Operations Command Dispatch of the severity of their injuries, stating that one patient “is critical and the other is minor.”

12:36 a.m. Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Pierce Street, Pacoima
Report of “415” disturbance, a fight at a party. A witness reports “10 male Hispanics with shaved heads, fist-fighting.”

12:43 a.m. 7800 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Canoga Park
LAFD units have responded to an emergency call at a two-story apartment complex. There is no appearance of smoke, but an obvious smell is emanating from somewhere inside the building. Engine 106 and Task Force 72 are investigating, and advise that there is a strong “burning rubber smell.” The reporting party is in apartment 111 and thinks it might be coming from the apartment above. A firefighter has “suited up” to investigate the smell on the second floor. After a while, the fire units still cannot locate the source, and notice that the smell has dissipated.

12:48 a.m. 11700 Saticoy Street, North Hollywood
Initial report of a “415 / Group” (several people disturbing the peace) is now a possible “domestic violence” incident.

12:53 a.m. 17800 block of Lull Street, Lake Balboa
Report of an “open 911 line.“ A person has called 911 but cannot be heard on the line, although there is still an open connection. West Valley units are requested to respond.

1:20 a.m. Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Erwin Street, Woodland Hills
Report of “415 / Fight” at the Promenade. A “number of suspects are fist-fighting.” Topanga LAPD units are requested to respond.
