• San Diego sheriff's dog recovering after being stabbed in face during Escondido arrest (sandiegouniontribune.com) — An overnight burglary call in Escondido turned violent when a sheriff's K-9, Nike, was stabbed in the head while helping officers on South Orange Street near West Grand Avenue. Nike received emergency treatment in San Marcos and is recovering at home, while the suspect faces multiple felony charges and remains jailed on significant bail.
