📰 News we're reading

• After years of delays, Historic Folsom's Granite House moves towards construction (folsomtimes.com) — Folsom's City Council has advanced a key agreement that finally pushes the long-delayed Granite House project in Historic Folsom toward construction while tightening timelines for the rest of the Railroad Block. The updated deal reshapes parking, protects the district's historic character against high-rise state housing pressures, and adds accountability for both the city and developer as plans return Oct. 13.

• New Law Requires Sacramento Cities, County to Team Up on Homelessness (californiacitynews.org) — Folsom will be required to join Sacramento County and nearby cities in a new joint powers authority that will control regional housing and homelessness policy by 2028. The law keeps each city's funding under local control but forces closer coordination, sparking debate over local autonomy, potential lawsuits, and whether this first-of-its-kind mandate will actually improve services for unhoused residents.
