Borders Makes Donations to Schools for In Store Purchases This Weekend

School of your choice will receive a $15 donation for any purchases made in store

Having three children — ages 8, 13 and 17 — reminds me every day what these economic times have done to our schools, so I am always looking for a way to help. Well, this weekend I have a new and easy way to help donate $15 to the school of my choice. So I thought I would share it here at Patch because I know many others also want to help.

Make any type of in-store purchase at any Borders location — must be an in-store purchase, sorry no online buys this time — then take your receipt/certificate and log on to the Internet-based schools charity www.donorschoose.org.

Enter your zip code and select from a list of schools in your area and that school gets a $15 gift card, thanks to you.

The best part of all is the purchase can be any amount, you can even buy a cookie from the in-house coffee stand at Borders and be able to make a $15 donation to your school through donroschoose.org.

Anyone purchasing the book, "Waiting for 'Superman': How We Can Save America's Failing Public Schools'' receives a second $15 card, as the publishers are part of this one-weekend-only promotion.

The nearest Borders is located at 2925 S El Camino Real in San Mateo.
